AstraZeneca today announced Phase 3 trial results for roxadustat in patients with chemotherapy-induced anemia (CIA) receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy for non-myeloid malignancies. The trial demonstrated significant increases in hemoglobin levels and reductions in transfusion requirements compared to placebo. Roxadustat is a HIF-PHI that stimulates erythropoiesis through a mechanism that mimics the body's natural response to low oxygen.
