AbbVie today announced Phase 2 trial results for navitoclax in combination with ruxolitinib in patients with polycythemia vera (PV) who are resistant or intolerant to hydroxyurea. The trial demonstrated significant hematologic responses, including reductions in hematocrit, white blood cell count, and platelet count, as well as improvements in spleen size. Navitoclax is a BCL-2/BCL-XL inhibitor that induces apoptosis in malignant cells. These results support further development of navitoclax in PV and other myeloproliferative neoplasms.
