Eli Lilly Reports Phase 3 SURMOUNT-OSA Results for Tirzepatide in Sleep Apnea

Eli Lilly today announced results from the Phase 3 SURMOUNT-OSA trial evaluating tirzepatide in adults with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and obesity. The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a significant reduction in the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) compared to placebo. Approximately 42% of patients in the tirzepatide arm achieved disease resolution compared to 16% in the placebo arm. These results led to FDA approval of tirzepatide for treatment of moderate-to-severe OSA in adults with obesity.
