Johnson & Johnson today announced results from the Phase 3 LIBREXIA-STROKE trial evaluating milvexian, an oral factor XIa inhibitor, for secondary prevention of ischemic stroke in patients with recent non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack. The trial demonstrated that milvexian significantly reduced the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke compared to placebo when added to antiplatelet therapy. Factor XIa inhibition represents a novel anticoagulation approach that may reduce thrombotic events with a potentially lower bleeding risk than traditional anticoagulants. These results support regulatory submissions for milvexian in stroke prevention.
